Become a Green Team representative

The board of the Diocesan Green Team is asking each rector to appoint a Green Representative to:

  1. Attend the Green workshop at convention in order to hear several speakers (noted below) on topics helpful to our parishes as well as our homes.
  2. To share what you are doing in your parishes.
  3. To speak up in behalf of sustainability issues in our Churches, serving as the voice of environmental awareness. One of the main projects offered will be a parish ecology audit. We are suggesting the Parish "green rep," with the junior warden and other involved people, with the permission of the rector, to conduct this audit. This is a first time offering of this audit in this diocese -- with input of those conducting the audit we will revise it when needed. The audit will not be on paper but online through our diocesan web page. It will be presented by Rob Wright - a parishioner from St. Margaret of Scotland in Sarasota, who is a coordinator with the Sarasota Water Planning & Regulatory Division.

It may be that we will meet together in the spring -- the main work will be in our parishes.

We will be selling stainless steel water bottles with a Diocese logo printed on them. We hope the green reps will want to purchase them and if interested, offer to sell them.

We view this world as God’s creation and feel our responsibility to care for this earth. And we want and need "Green" reps who have the same heart.

Interested persons should contact the Rev. Fran McKinney at sfranmckinney@aol.com.
