is a retreat for young adults ages 19-30.
The name "Vocare" is a Latin word meaning “to call.” A Vocare weekend is a time in which you may discern how God is calling you to serve through talks given by peers, small group discussions, and praise and prayer time.
It is a weekend full of questions and, hopefully answers. It is a time to evaluate and strengthen ones’ personal relationship with Christ while becoming part of a Christian community. It is also an opportunity to gain some of the skills needed to answer God’s call. Most of all it is a weekend of prayer, praise, eating, singing, laughing, and playing together.
A Vocare weekend is planned and staffed by a team of young adults for young adults, as well as clergy from throughout the diocese. The staff prepares for the weekend by working, praying and planning. A series of stimulating and challenging talks are designed to focus on subjects such as: Identity, Response to Christ, Reconciliation, Spiritual Journey, Prayer, Community, Vocation, Empowerment and Tomorrow.
Throughout the weekend there are small group activities, large group discussions, time for personal reflection, as well as opportunities to speak with Spiritual Directors. Participants are encouraged to make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience by asking questions, speaking up, laughing and enjoying the presence of God.
