Happening
A one-time encounter designed specifically for high school youth, grades 9 - 12. The event takes place over a weekend and is filled with fun, fellowship, sharing, and caring. It is designed to help young people understand what it means to be a Christian in the world today.

A Christian experience of sharing God's love through community.

The Happening weekend is a one-time encounter designed specifically for high school youth, grades 9 - 12. The event takes place over a weekend and is filled with fun, fellowship, sharing, caring and experiencing God's love. The weekend is designed to deepen one's faith and help young people understand what it means to be a Christian in the world today.

The experience is open to youth and adults from all denominations; however, each individual attending must be sponsored by a youth minister or clergy from the Diocese of Southwest Florida. Ninth-graders may only attend this event in the spring of their freshman year.

This event is run by young people in conjunction with an adult support staff, who work and pray together to make each event a memorable success. There are talks, singing, worship, small group discussions, fun, games and a few surprises. During this three-day gathering, participants experience the love of our Lord Jesus Christ as shown through the sacraments and the ministry of fellow students, clergy, and lay adults.

Happening Team
Happening may be attended as a participant only once. However, “Happeners” may attend future events serving as team members. Serving on a Happening team is offering oneself for another's Happening experience. It is mandatory that team members attend all pre-weekend meetings and contribute to any necessary prep work. Adults who attend the event are called “Magi,” they are invited to be part of this awesome weekend experience. Adults will be placed with other adults in small groups to share the same experiences as the youth.

Reunion
Following each weekend, there is a Happening Reunion event that consists of fun, food, fellowship and an opportunity to share experiences gained through the Happening experience.

Happening weekends run from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon and are held at DaySpring Episcopal Conference Center in Ellenton.
